The Timok valley line, finished in 1922 by Russian emigre labour through nineteen tunnels in the Svrljig gorge, and still the only rail link between Niš and the eastern border country.

Up the Ibar valley past Mataruska Banja and Josanicka Banja, on rails completed in 1931 to carry ore north out of the Ibar mines, and the only atlas line for a hundred kilometres in any direction.
