Steam on the old Waiuku branch south of Auckland, run by volunteers since 1977: a 7.4 km line from Glenbrook to Victoria Avenue that carries up to 30,000 passengers a season.

The Waiuku branch opened in 1922 and lost its section from Glenbrook to Waiuku in 1967. Members of the Railway Enthusiasts Society began clearing the gorse and relaying track in 1970, opened from Glenbrook to their depot at Pukeoware in October 1977 and reached Fernleigh in 1986; today the line runs 7.4 km to Victoria Avenue in Waiuku. It is run by volunteers and carries up to 30,000 passengers in a season that runs from October to June.
