A snapshot of the interactive map, taken on 23 July 2026, is published as a plain, reusable dataset: the shape of each line plus its distance, fastest scheduled journey time, service top speed, operator, rolling stock, the year it opened and approximate annual ridership. It's the data behind the Glacier Express, the Trans-Siberian, the Shinkansen and 958 more, released so you can map, analyse or build on it. Figures are approximate published values, not live timetables. The live map has grown since that snapshot — it now draws 1,469 routes across 120 countries — and the next release will carry them, with the facts and the geometry under their own licences.

Provenance & licence note (updated 31 July 2026): the current downloads were built on 23 July, when nearly every line was still hand-traced; those hand-traced lines and all the facts are CC BY 4.0. Since late July the live map's route lines are traced from OpenStreetMap railway ways, so that geometry is © OpenStreetMap contributors under ODbL — the handful of OSM-traced corridors already in the 23 July files (Brenner, Oslo–Göteborg, Oslo–Stockholm, Pustertalbahn) included. The next dataset release will carry the split licence explicitly: facts CC BY 4.0, geometry ODbL.
