Three dome-car days Denver to Salt Lake City: the Continental Divide inside the 10 km Moffat Tunnel, the Colorado River through canyons no road enters, Moab’s red rock, then Castle Gate and Soldier Summit.

Launched in 2021 as Rocky Mountaineer’s first American route, taken over by sister brand Canyon Spirit on 21 April 2026 and extended the same season from Moab to Salt Lake City: three unhurried days on Union Pacific metals with hotel nights in Glenwood Springs and Moab. Beyond the Moffat Tunnel it locks onto the Colorado River, running through Gore, Glenwood and Ruby canyons that no highway enters, then climbs Price Canyon under Castle Gate to Soldier Summit and drops into the Utah Valley. Moab itself has no station: the railhead is a siding off Highway 313 and a motorcoach covers the last miles into town, which is why the line on this map passes 41 km east of it. The original two-day Denver to Moab trip still runs alongside the three-day one.
