Sweden’s tilting flagship since 1990, sprinting the Western Main Line between the country’s two biggest cities.
The X2000 introduced Sweden to tilting trains in 1990, bending through the curves of the 1862 Western Main Line at 200 km/h between the country’s two big cities. The route reads like a cross-section of middle Sweden: Mälaren’s outskirts, the Sörmland lake-and-birch belt, the great junction at Hallsberg, then the ancient burial plateau around Falköping before the descent to the Göta älv. After three decades the fleet was rebuilt rather than retired: the interiors are new, the profile unmistakably 1990.
