Kinnekullebanan

Four small railways stitched round the flat-topped hill of Kinnekulle by Lidköping and Mariestad, the last piece laid in 1910 and the whole of it regauged to standard by 1953.

A 121 km unelectrified single track from Håkantorp by Lidköping and Mariestad to Gårdsjö, meeting the Älvsborg Line at one end and the Western Main Line at the other. It has neither automatic train protection nor centralised traffic control. Västtrafik runs the whole length with Y31 railcars, and Green Cargo brings freight from Hallsberg to the paper mill at Mariestad.
