Rolls out of Helsinki by night and crosses into Lapland by morning: sleepers and car carriers bound for the Arctic Circle.
Finland’s most famous night train leaves Helsinki after dark and rolls 900 km up the spine of the country to Rovaniemi, right on the Arctic Circle. Families board with skis and pushchairs for the double-deck sleepers, cars drive on at the rear, and wake to Bothnian coast light at Oulu, then snow-heavy Lapland forest for the final hours. In December it runs heavy with pilgrims to Santa Claus Village; in June the same berths see the midnight sun.
