Mátészalka–Záhony railway

Opened on 27 September 1905 as a local line from Nagykároly to Csap; the border of 1920 cut it in three, and this is the Hungarian piece, out to the frontier at Záhony.

MÁV line 111 is a single unelectrified track along the western edge of the Szatmár–Bereg plain, running up the left bank of the Tisza from Mátészalka to Záhony. MÁV-START regional trains take about 1 h 46 over the 55 km.
