Railjet Prague–Vienna

Follows the Habsburg Empire’s first steam railway of 1839. Prague, Brno and Vienna strung like pearls.

This corridor carries some of the oldest railway DNA on the continent: its southern end grew from the Kaiser Ferdinands-Nordbahn, Austria’s first steam railway, which reached Břeclav in 1839. Today ČD and ÖBB Railjets share an hourly-pattern service that leaves Prague beneath Vyšehrad, climbs the Bohemian-Moravian Highlands, and pauses at Brno under the Špilberk fortress before running the Pálava wine country and March floodplains into Vienna. Four relaxed hours, dining car included, between the two old capitals of the monarchy.
