Capital to the Baltic amber coast, Gdańsk’s Hanseatic old town, in under three hours.

The Pendolino run to the Baltic is Poland’s reconnection line, rebuilt end to end for the 2014 launch of Express InterCity Premium. From Warsaw the ED250s cross Masovia and the lake country around Iława, then produce the route’s trump card: Malbork, the largest brick castle in the world, filling the windows as the train crosses the Nogat. The last stretch runs the Vistula delta to a terminus within sight of Gdańsk’s shipyard cranes and the brick mass of St Mary’s.
