France’s longest domestic TGV run: 300 km/h to Marseille, then the classic Riviera line along the Mediterranean to Nice.

The Riviera TGV is two railways in one ticket: three hours of 300 km/h down the Rhône on the 2001 Méditerranée line, then a two-hour Mediterranean crawl where nobody checks a watch. Beyond Toulon the track finds the sea and keeps it: the red porphyry coves of the Esterel between Saint-Raphaël and Cannes, yacht harbours at Antibes, and the final curve around the Baie des Anges into Nice-Ville. The last 220 km take as long as the first 750, and are the reason to book a left-side seat.
