Zalaegerszeg–Boba railway

Up the Zala valley on rails the Transdanubian local company laid: Boba to Ukk in January 1889, on through Zalaegerszeg in October 1890, and now the first leg of the line to Slovenia.

Line 25 is Hungary’s only railway towards Slovenia: a single electrified main line from Boba, on the Székesfehérvár–Szombathely route, out to the border at Bajánsenye. It has been under wire since 18 May 2010. Both ends lie in Vas county, but the line crosses the western edge of Veszprém county and runs mostly through Zala, calling at the county seat, Zalaegerszeg; the stretch from Zalalövő to the border is known as the Őrség railway.
