Bordeaux–Hendaye railway

Dead straight down the Landes pine forest to the Basque coast; the rails left Bordeaux in 1841 and took until 1864 to reach the Spanish border at Irun.

The road to Spain was built in stages between 1841 and 1864, and runs 235 km from Bordeaux to Irun on the frontier. This card follows it as far as Hendaye, the last French station before the border, which TER Nouvelle-Aquitaine reaches in about 2 h 39.
