Relaunched in 2021 as heir to the fabled Train Bleu: board at Austerlitz, wake to the red Estérel cliffs and the sea glittering at Saint-Raphaël.

France’s night-train revival made this its flagship in May 2021, returning couchettes to the Riviera run after a four-year gap. The train leaves Austerlitz mid-evening, takes the classic Rhône-left-bank freight route south through the dark, and delivers its reward after Toulon: a slow dawn cruise along the Côte d’Azur, red Esterel rock on one side and the Mediterranean on the other, calling at Cannes and Antibes before Nice-Ville. It is routinely France’s most heavily booked sleeper.
