The LGV Sud Europe Atlantique put Bordeaux’s vineyards two hours from Paris, and emptied the air shuttle.

Since the LGV Sud Europe Atlantique opened in July 2017, Bordeaux has sat two hours from Paris: close enough that the city’s riverfront boomed with Parisian arrivals. The route leaves Montparnasse, skims past Tours and the Loire, then runs 302 km of new line across the Poitou farmland with barely a curve worth slowing for. The finish is Saint-Jean station’s 1898 ironwork, a tram ride from the Cité du Vin and the Garonne quays.
