The world's railway map
World Train Map — 1516 train routes on one interactive map
An interactive railway map of every passenger rail service that runs today: 1,516 train routes across 120 countries so far, each one checked, no disused or freight-only lines. High-speed, classic, night, scenic, heritage and luxury lines, with the facts behind every one.
From the Glacier Express, the Bernina Express and the Trans-Siberian to the Shinkansen, the Eurostar and the California Zephyr: every route is drawn on a fullscreen world map with its distance, fastest journey time, top speed, operator, rolling stock and the year the line opened. Free, no signup. The interactive map needs JavaScript; the index below reaches the same atlas as static pages.

Recently corrected
- Eighty-eight more routes are now drawn from OpenStreetMap’s own route relations, node for node: 1,381 of the 1,516, and 1,094 of them from end to end. Twenty-three routes that a relation drew for only part of their length are now covered further, 20,805 km of line in all. The relations were found in new ways that do not depend on the language a relation is named in: the trains whose stops lie along the route, anywhere on the planet; the route’s own Wikidata item; the railway lines Wikidata says its stations are on; and the lines whose track runs under it. Many are named in their own country’s script, such as Железопътна линия 16 for Septemvri to Dobrinishte. Every new drawing moved its line by less than a kilometre and passed the same checks as before. Where it would have left a station the train calls at, as at Kilkenny, Huesca and Valencia, or where the timetable no longer confirmed it, the old line was kept. Each route’s page names the relations it is drawn from. 2026-10-07
- Google Analytics is gone from the site. Since 8 September every page had loaded it from Google; now no page does, nothing about a visit is sent to Google, and the only counting left is this site’s own, which is anonymous and stores nothing on your device. The cookies Google Analytics set are read by nobody now, and the map deletes them the next time it opens. The privacy notice says so, and the site’s security policy no longer lets a page reach Google’s addresses at all. 2026-10-07
- On the About page, Featured in and the thanks to the two forums whose members have corrected the map the most now come at the end of the page, after the account of how the map is made and checked, instead of at the top. 2026-10-07
